Carlos

The meaning of the word hero is “a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities”. When I think of what that means to me is someone who fights for what they believe in. It means someone who is strength is not in his muscles but in his character, a man who is respected and at the same time respectful. That is exactly why I am writing this for my best friend and partner for the last 15 years. Let me take each of the qualities I see as heroic and show you how Carlos has those qualities- 1. Fighting for what you believe in- it is easy sometimes after so many years and arguments to want to throw in the towel. To say I give up, but not Carlos. When I say I have had it he shows me that what we have and built is much stronger than just walking away. He loves me even when I am not lovable 2. Strength of character- When we met I was a single mother of a two year old. He didn’t shy away from the added responsibility. He loved her like his own and not too many men could do that. 3. Respected and respectful- He is loved by all and that means a lot. It means that people see him as someone who they can look up to. His children look for his approval and that shows that he is there for them. He treats people in the same manner, and by that I mean that even if he does not necessarily like them he will not let it show. He has manners and is a hard worker that is what a respected and respectful person is. We have our problems but he has and always be my “Superman”!
