Chaplain John W. Berger, CDR, ChC, USN, Retired
As a Dad he has be our rock and our wings. Always there for us and always loving us unconditionally. We are most proud of him for his life long service to our country and our military. He has spent his life in service to others, in war zones and stateside, and at 93 Dad is still preaching at Chapel on Sundays aboard the USS HORNET Museum. His work with the POWs and their families during and after both Korea and Vietnam has been an inspiration to all. Even after the Navy retired him and the Methodist church retired him, he has continued his ministry with numerous organizations in the Bay Area. He may have lots of medals to hang on his uniform, but his greatest treasure are the hearts he has touched through the years. Thank you, Dad, for your lifetime example of how to live and how to love.
